Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in working hands-on with anthropology museum collections? Do you enjoy problem solving and building things with your hands? Come put your arts and crafts skills to use by helping build custom boxes and mounts for objects in the DMNS Anthropology collection!

Building custom mounts for museum collections helps reduce handling of objects, as well as provides support and protection in storage. All of the materials that come into contact with the object are archival and adhesive-free, which will help preserve it for the future. For more information on the DMNS Anthropology & Archaeology Collections and how to apply, please go to the following links:

Preservation Advocacy Day at the Capitol: Wednesday, February 6

Join us for a fun and informative day under Colorado’s Gold Dome where you will learn how to speak to your local elected officials, hone your legislative knowledge, and foster your relationship with your legislator to support historic preservation efforts in your community. The day will include an interactive session with government affairs professionals to ensure you have the tools to engage with your legislator. You will also hear from those who have utilized the Commercial and Residential Historic Preservation Tax Credit as well as the State Historical Fund grants to spur economic activity in their communities. Attendees will end their day meeting with their State Senators and Representatives and witnessing the political process in action. This session is open to all and your participation will aid the preservation community’s top legislative priorities in 2019. There is an additional $35 cost to attend this workshop. This cost covers lunch and materials expenses outside the regular hotel location.

Please contact Amanda Barker at CPI to sign up – abarker@coloradopreservation.org.
